Oleksandr Usyk defended his titles in a rematch against Anthony Joshua

On the night of August 20-21st, the long-awaited rematch between Briton Anthony Joshua and Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk took place. At stake were the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO titles, as well as the The Ring Magazine belt, previously owned by Tyson Fury.

Of course, the fight was spectacular and lasted all 12 rounds. It has already been dubbed the main event of 2022 in the boxing world. The incredible technique and will to win of the Ukrainian turned out to be more effective than the power of AJ. Joshua correctly attacked Oleksandr, but his punches were often slipped or blocked.

As a result, everyone froze in anticipation of the referee’s decision, because Anthony’s progress was obvious. But, fortunately, this was not enough for the Briton to win. Oleksandr Usyk won with a score of 115-113, 116-112, 113-115. For the absolute championship, Oleksandr lacks only the WBC belt, which now belongs to heavyweight Tyson Fury.
